Winter Wonders
BackIt's been a busy Winter Term at Hertswood Academy! We've seen so many amazing achievements from our students and staff, and we're excited to share some of the highlights with you.
From sporting successes to creative achievements, there's been something for everyone this term. We've seen students excel in their studies, participate in exciting extracurricular activities, and give back to the community.
We're incredibly proud of all our students and staff for making this Winter Term so special. We can't wait to see what the new year brings!

Highlights from the Winter Term have included...
- We congratulated our Sixth Form and GCSE Students on outstanding results in their exams, earning recognition from Sir Oliver Dowden, MP, and welcoming record numbers of Year 11 students back to the Hertswood Sixth Form this term.
- The Performance Studies team put on an incredible Christmas Arts Evening full of festive performances, school dog Ada joined in the holiday cheer, and we organised our annual Christmas Gift Giveaway. We also shared some special moments with Riley and Ada as they spread festive joy this week.
- The Academy hosted an incredible Open Evening, welcoming many members of the community with the help of a group of fantastic and friendly students. We also welcomed Eastenders celebrity, Charlie Suff, for a series of careers talks.
- Our Art department celebrated the achievement of artist alumni, Aimee, being featured at the Royal Academy of Arts, and shared a huge array of animal artwork from our impressive Year 11 art students.
- Photographers showed their prowess at Kew Gardens, captured fruit in stunning shots, and took part in our Halloween and Sunset Photo Challenges.
- We shared new video footage of this year's Sports Day, and recognised student success at the District Cross Country Championship and at the District Swimming Gala.
- A group of lucky students took to the skies with real piloting experience, while others took part in the LIFE Project at Borehamwood Fire Station, and made movies at Sky Studios.
- Students showed design talents, with watermelon revision aids, architectural designs for the future, and in our Year 7 DT Club, impressive arboreal creations and some superb Christmas ornaments!
- We finished the term with Awards Assemblies for all year groups, with Headteacher Peter Gillett personally recognising the successes of outstanding students across the Academy.
