🫀🔬 Saffron Green Primary visited #Hertswood for a heart dissection workshop last week. As part of our transition offer, Year 6 students explored the four chambers and the aorta in our labs. We were impressed by their curiosity and engagement during this hands-on session!
💡 Year 8 have designed and manufactured impressive lamps in Product Design. From studying iconic movements like Pop Art to using CAD/CAM and vacuum forming, students showed great skill. Mrs Robertson is very proud of these high quality #Hertswood outcomes! 🛠️✨
✨ After a successful bid to the DfE's ‘Connect the Classroom’ programme, #Hertswood has invested £150k+ into upgraded wireless, installed over the half-term. This continues our commitment to top-tier technology to support teaching and learning for our students and staff. 💻
🎭🪧 Year 8 Drama students at #Hertswood have mastered the art of Brechtian theatre! Focusing on placards and clear messaging, they created powerful performances on topics like internet safety. Well done to our performers who earned House points for their creative work.
🕯️ Year 7 #Hertswood students were joined by Debra Barnes from @Gen2GenUK for a moving talk on her family’s Holocaust testimony.
The visit brought their literacy studies of Morris Gleitzman's 'Once' to life, teaching vital lessons on the dangers of hatred. 🙏
🚀 Year 7 enjoyed an inspiring assembly with Executive Headteacher Mr Gillett this term, exploring the future of technology. He also celebrated our subject award winners for their fantastic effort last term. Great to see #Hertswood students continuing to 'Aim High'! 🎓
🥁🎁 A huge thank you to Elstree resident Duncan Fullerton for the generous donation of a complete drum kit to our Music Department! The kit is already being put to great use by #Hertswood students during our after-school Open Access practice sessions.
🎭 30 Year 9s enjoyed a memorable trip to 'Into the Woods' at the Bridge Theatre last week. From stunning costumes to inspiring sets, our students were captivated by an outstanding live musical experience. They represented #Hertswood with pride and left feeling truly impacted. 🎶
🏆 Twelve Year 7 students from #Hertswood visited Wodson Park for a multi-sport event to build confidence and teamwork. They met an England Wallball player and tried Quidditch and Blazepods, finishing with a brilliant bronze medal! Well done to the great team of students. 🥉✨

🤝✨ #Hertswood was thrilled to welcome Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice and receive thanks from Hertfordshire Mind Network for our 2025 fundraising. We are so proud of our staff and students' dedication to supporting these vital specialist care services.
✨🎁 In the lead-up to the holidays, we were moved by the generosity of the #Hertswood community. From personalised gifts for students making great progress to our annual staff gift collection, it was a joy to see our students and their families supported.
🌳🦺 Recently we welcomed Gristwood & Toms back to #Hertswood for an engaging Year 11 careers talk. Students explored apprenticeships in arboriculture, learned about safety at height, and even tried out the equipment. A fantastic insight into the industry!
🌿📸 Year 10 and 12 #Hertswood Photography students enjoyed their annual trip to Kew Gardens last term! They captured some incredible shots of the botanical collections and the Temperate House. Well done to everyone involved for such a creative day out.
🪩✨ We had a fantastic end to last term for Year 7 at their reward disco in the #Hertswood Theatre! Students earned tickets through House Points and enjoyed a great night with DJ Miss Sammi. Our thanks to everyone involved. 🙏
🎨 Since September, six Year 11 Youth Ambassadors have worked with 'The Sandbox' to promote wellbeing at #Hertswood. Their '5 Ways to Wellbeing' poster is now live on screens around the Academy, and we look forward to seeing more from them in the coming months! 🌟
🏓 In December, #Hertswood's Year 7 and 8 girls enjoyed a brilliant table tennis masterclass with Hertsmere Women’s Table Tennis Club! The founder was very impressed with their abilities, as well as their positive attitude manners! 🌟
🎖️ #Hertswood is incredibly proud of our Exams Officer, Ms Inwood, who has been awarded a British Empire Medal for her 14 years of dedicated leadership as Chair of Leecliffe Big Local. A well-deserved recognition for her amazing service to her community!
