Ambitious in Clay
Back
As part of their A-Level 3D Design course, our talented Year 12 designers recently embraced an ambitious creative challenge working with clay. Students selected from three imaginative themes -- 'abstract expression', 'mythical creatures', and 'underwater adventures' -- before interpreting and developing their chosen ideas.
A fascinating range of artistic concepts came to life throughout the project, from detailed studies of environmental adaptation and personality masks, to visual explorations of temperament and texture in music. Students began by producing project documents filled with intricate design sketches, then carefully translated their two-dimensional plans into expressive clay forms, before adding the final painted finishes.
Head of Creative Studies, Mrs Robertson, shared how immensely proud she is of the dedication and creative maturity our Sixth Formers have demonstrated so early in their course. We invite you to enjoy a small showcase of their sculptural work.
