Wonderful Winter Term
Back
It's been a wonderful Winter Term at Hertswood Academy and we are excited to share some of the highlights with you!
We've seen amazing achievements, from sporting successes to outstanding creativity, and opened our doors to the community and to exciting visitors. Students have excelled in their studies, participated in exciting extracurricular activities, and given back to the community.
We're incredibly proud of all our students and staff for making this Winter Term so special, and can't wait to see what 2026 brings!

Highlights from the Winter Term have included...
- We announced our results successes at GCSE, and in Year 13, with our Sixth Form recognised yet again reaching the top 25% in the country for progress. Special successes of our youngest students were celebrated at a Diamond Tea Party.
- We shared amazing drone footage from our 2025 Sports Day, pictures from our Outdoor Learning Day, and celebrated our Year 10 district tournament winning basketball team, with Year 9s reaching the final, and continuing the trend with more success recently.
- In the arts, we saw nature captured in acrylic by Year 10, a masterclass in oil with our Year 12, and we received an inspiring visit from metal sculptor James Wild for a hands-on workshop.
- We proudly shared the successes of two alumni doctors, as well as announcing our eager Head Students, Deputies, and House Captains for 2025-26. The Sixth Form Senior Team also greeted our new Student Council.
- New A-Level Chemistry students demonstrated great practical skills, and we congratulated our Year 13 Biologists on hard work in the British Biology Olympiad.
- Year 8s experienced an eye-opening visit about homelessness, and Year 11 received a theatre performance of A Christmas Carol.
- Our doors were opened for an outstanding Open Evening, as well as a Macmillan Coffee Morning for charity, and another Coffee Morning to expand our PTA.
- We shared details from an exciting Year 12 Futures Day, and held an array of career events.
- Halloween was celebrated with an array of impressive costumes, and with the holidays on the way, our Christmas Arts Evening was a great success, and our choir shared their talents at a local care home.
- School dog, Ada, took part in a Christmas photoshoot, to give us this year's Hertswood Christmas Card, and we ended the term celebrating our Christmas Stars at our values assemblies, including announcing our Students of the Term.
