Last week, six of our brilliant Year 10 students ventured to Cambridge University for an extraordinary Language and Science challenge. They dove head first into a day of innovation, teamwork, and interdisciplinary learning, proving that languages and science are a stellar combination. From decoding Russian alphabets to marketing a space hotel in French, our students showcased remarkable creativity and problem-solving skills. They even built a model! Their enthusiasm was infectious, and they gained invaluable insights from industry professionals and university representatives.

Despite fierce competition, our students shone, receiving two individual awards and leaving with a wealth of positive experiences. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with students highlighting the practical benefits of language skills in future careers and the thrill of university life. They’ve returned inspired, with a renewed appreciation for languages and a taste for the possibilities that lie ahead.

One of the students described it as 'an amazing experience'. Another said 'I enjoyed creating the marketing video, applying my knowledge of French, and speaking to others in French with them understanding me!'

We’re incredibly proud of their achievements and look forward to more enriching opportunities like this! Our thanks to the group for representing Hertswood perfectly, and to the staff who arranged and supervised the wonderful trip.
