Yesterday, Hertswood Academy was alive with literary excitement for World Book Day 2025! There was a palpable buzz throughout the day, as students and staff alike embraced the spirit of reading with fantastic costumes. Our Year 7s truly shone, with a huge number of them arriving in creative fancy dress. Student groups like "The Best Sleepover in the World" and "Alvin and the Chipmunks" brought smiles, while individual costumes -- such as a dalmatian, a minion, Matilda, Anne Frank, Darth Vader, and Where's Wally -- showcased incredible imagination. Congratulations to our winning student, who dazzled as Elphaba from Wicked!

The staff also joined in the fun, with classic characters from Snow White and The Hungry Caterpillar making appearances. A special round of applause goes to Mr Onyema, whose Prince Charming costume won the staff competition. In addition to the amazing costumes, students in PDP classes created book reviews on bunting, which now beautifully decorate the school atrium, fostering a love of reading for all.
