After our Weeks of Art and Photography earlier this year, we are delighted to continue our showcase from the Creative Studies faculty, with the 2024 Week of DT.

We will be sharing the work of our Year 10 GCSE Design & Technology students, who were given the title 'Light a Space' to work from, and asked to complete a full iterative design process over the course of a term. You will see examples of their design sketches, mood boards, card models, and work in 3D modelling software, as well as their completed products made using our laser cutter and 3D printers.

Monday's students are Gracjan and Hugh. Gracjan was ambitious, wanting a light suspended in the air. He designed and 3D printed a light frame, with careful thought (and several attempts) going into a suitable slotting mechanism to hold it together. Hugh wanted to produce a compact design aimed at a teenage market. He did a superb job calculating the precise sizes of the plywood slotting together using finger joints, while making sure that all the electrical wires were neatly concealed.
