The half-term sports trip to Cologne, Germany, started packed full of activities. The students began with a stadium tour at the BayArena, home of Bayer Leverkusen. They were able to go into the dugouts at the side of the pitch, into the away team dressing room, and even into the VIP area.

Next, the group went to the German Sport & Olympia Museum. They learnt about the history of sports, from the Olympic Games all the way through to the present day.

Finally, students played their first of two football fixtures of the tour. The first game was played in a fantastic spirit, with two very equal matched teams, and won 4-2 by the Hertswood Year 8 boys squad. The second game was played by the mixed Year 8/9 girls squad, with the girls losing to an agonising last-minute winner by the opposition, 4-3. Finally, the Year 9 boys played the last game in a thriller, which ended up 6-4 to the hosts.

This was all in just one day! Through the rest of the trip, students enjoyed a professional football training session, a trip to the chocolate museum, further fixtures, and the Phantasialand theme park! We look forward to sharing more pictures with you soon.
