Racing the Heat

Hertswood Academy celebrated another fantastic annual Sports Day this week, adapting seamlessly to the summer heatwave with a revised morning schedule. Our students took to the fields with incredible energy, competing for their Houses across a range of athletics events including javelin, high jump, shotput, tug-of-war, and the always thrilling relay races. Banners made by the students added vibrant colour to the sidelines, while music and dancing kept the community spirit soaring.

The excitement peaked as even our staff took to the track for the 100m sprints, cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd. Executive Headteacher Mr Gillett and Headteacher Mrs Gill were on hand to present gold, silver, and bronze medals to our proud competitors. To escape the afternoon heat, students moved indoors with their form groups to reflect on how the Hertswood Values apply to sports, concluding the day with a lively Sports Quiz.

A huge thank you goes out to our incredible PE Faculty and all staff members who went above and beyond to make the day such a memorable success. Results will be officially announced in next week's celebration assemblies, bringing us one step closer to declaring this year's House Cup winners.
