On Tuesday, Hertswood's summer concert with art exhibition showcased work of students from across all year groups, including a capella three part harmony songs from South Africa and the film 'Rocky', military drumming from Nigeria, a range of pop and rock songs, and high level artwork.

Some of the experienced performers are almost finished with their time at the Academy, but some students who 'trod the boards' for the very first time were from Year 7, having picked up an instrument at the start of the summer term, prepared a piece in after school sessions, and then put themselves forward to take to the stage -- a fantastic effort. We are immensely proud of all the students who committed to and put together a wonderful show of great performances, coping well with the pressure of live performance with aplomb!

We are also extremely grateful for our instrument and vocal team, Paul (guitar), Dionne (voice), Amanda (piano & keyboard) and Mario Panayitou (drums), who have all worked tirelessly throughout the year with these students to help them reach such a standard. We are also indebted to our own wonderful staff who supported with technical and administrative help to enable the evening to run so smoothly. Thank you.
