Exploring the Heart

"During last week's Biology Club, the students dissected lambs' hearts, and tried to identify the four chambers of the heart: the right and left ventricles and atriums. We also asked the group to identify the major veins and arteries (vena cava, aorta, pulmonary vein and pulmonary artery), but that proved quite difficult!

"Preparing for the club is a lot of work, including creating risk assessments considering any equipment that may be a hazard. However offering the young students these early practical opportunities will give them a major head start when they being their GCSE Biology course."
