Launching the Duke of Edinburgh's Award

Hertswood Academy is proud to now be licensed for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. In September a mixed group of students began working towards their Bronze Award, and from January 2023 we will be offering the award as an after-school club for Year 10 students.

The Bronze Award, available to those 14 years and over, is a way for students to discover new interests and talents. It requires three months of participation in a physical activity, work on a skill, and volunteering which we hope to accommodate within the school community. This is followed by a one night camping expedition, involving two days of walking, while navigating for themselves.

We look forward to seeing students embrace this new challenge, run by Miss Milton, Lead Practitioner.
